  1. @)Library Subsystem:  The "@" command takes you to the "library" subsystem.
  2. It is designed for any medium but typically is associated with a CD-ROM
  3. (Compact Disk Read Only Memory) is much like the Compact Disk players that
  4. play music.  Rather that having music on the disk there are data files.
  5. Files are collections of text, programs, graphics, data bases, and other
  6. types of information stored in digital form. The Files subsystem allows you
  7. to download.  Downloading is the transfer of files from RBBS-PC to your
  8. computer's memory, diskette, or printer.

  12. 1. You should use the L)ist and S)earch commands to look for files that you
  13. would like to download after you enter the "library" subsystem.

  15. 2. Files can be sent across phone lines at very rapid rates.  Three hundred
  16. baud (baud is a measure of transmission speed) modems transmit
  17. approximately 30 characters per second, 1200 baud modems transmit at 120
  18. characters per second, 2400 baud modems transmit at 240 characters per
  19. second and 9600 baud modems transmit at 960 characters per second.
